Painted on canvas panel mounted to wood panel. For this I used an old painting medium recipe, an emulsion consisting of egg, linseed oil, damar varnish, and water. (This bends some of the rules of proper modern mediums but it works!)

This is an example of earlier work done using a camera lucida, a 19th Century drawing tool. The device was used to capture just the basic shapes of the body, features, and clothing-for 5 minutes or so-and then I "elaborated" on this sketch for about an hour. Because of the nature of the camera lucida, the drawings are small, approximately 8" x 10" yet accurate.
